According to the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, the purpose of these territories is to integrate best practices across the whole country that will promote growth through investment.
Currently, there are 34 of these territories across the Federation. They are, in essence, special zones where preferential tax conditions and simplified administrative procedures are observed - as well as other privileges.
