1.4 Million Russians Lifted Out Of Poverty in Q1 2017



Within the Russian Federation there are approximately 22 million people living below the poverty line. This equates to approximately 15% of the population.  Year over year from Q1 2016 to 2017 the number of individuals living below the poverty line decreased by 1.4 million. The poverty line is considered a monthly income of 9,900 rubles (170 USD). The average per capita income per month was noted to be 27,000 rubles, approximately 2.8 times the subsistence level determined by the government.
