Rosturizm lifts restrictions on the sale of tours to Egypt

Rosturizm, the federal agency of tourism of the Russian Federation, announced the lifting of restrictions for tour operators to sell tours to Egypt on the basis of air travel with Cairo. On January 4, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree authorizing the resumption of flights to Cairo. The document came into force from the date of signing.

 It was interrupted at the end of 2015, when the passenger liner A321 of the Kogalymavia airline crashed over the Sinai Peninsula. The cause of the crash was then recognized as a terrorist act. The decree of three years ago prohibits all passenger transportation from Russia to Egypt. An exception was made only for officials who were sent to this country for a business trip. The new decree allows flights to Cairo, as well as the sale of vouchers with a flight in this city.

Russia ceased air travel with Egypt in November 2015 because of the terrorist attack aboard the Russian airliner. In the sky over Sinai in the plane, an explosive device laid by terrorists in the Egyptian airport worked. As a result of the plane crash, 224 people were killed.
