Russians choose automatic transmissions in 2017

A study by analysts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" showed that cars with automatic transmissions in Russia are more popular than cars with manual transmission. According to experts, in the past year, every second new car, bought in Russia, was equipped with an automatic transmission.

In 2017, the highest degree of popularity in the Russian Federation was demonstrated by cars with automatic transmission.

According to the data collected in 2017, the share of cars with automatic transmission accounted for 54% of the Russian market.

At the same time, the sale of cars with "automatic" exceeds sales of cars with manual transmission for the second year in a row. It is noted that this situation has developed largely due to the fact that among the bestsellers of the Russian market, a high proportion has versions with an "automatic". So, for KIA Rio and Hyundai Solaris this value is more than 60%, and for Hyundai Creta - 72%. In 2014, for cars equipped with automatic transmission, in Russia accounted for 49.1%, by 2015 this figure decreased to 48%. Then the share of sales of cars with automatic transmission again began to increase and continues to show growth until now.
