Ministry Of Labour Decides To Keep Single Minimum Wage
Maxim Topilin, head of the Ministry of Labour within the Russian Federation, has confirmed that after much review the government has decided to keep a single minimum wage for the entire country. Since July 1, 2016 the minimum wage in Russia has been 7,500 rubles per month - approximately 130 U.S. dollars at current exchange rates. As Russia is such a large and diverse country it made sense to review whether it was practical or appropriate to have a single minimum wage. After weighing all of the possible outcomes it has been decided that in the best interest of the nation it will not change. Later this year we can expect to see the minimum wage raised to 7,800 rubles per month.
